De Franse Keizer

These dunes are formed from the remains of the old Wadden island Huisduinen. South of this are the Donkere Duinen. These originated from the small Wadden island of Ooghduinen. The gap between the two islands closed in the 16th century. The Harmplas dune lake is now located here.

The Ravelijncenter offers a varied selection of 35 stores, including living & sleeping, kitchens, electronics, a petstore , DIY stores, advertising and even sports! The Ravelijncenter offer free WiFi.

The Balgzandpolder is entirely designed for birds. You always see birds here resting or looking for food. At high tide in the Wadden Sea there are extra birds to be seen here. They can often be admired from a short distance via a viewing screen. Birds that you can see, for example, are spoonbills, many species of ducks, large groups of oystercatchers and redshanks and amongst them rarer birds such as spotted redshanks and greenshanks.

Duinoord is a unique and very pleasant restaurant in country and western style. Partly due to the homey atmosphere, but also by the brown atmosphere every guest feels right at home. The company has a Steakhouse, a terrace, a banquet hall and a barbecue restaurant on the 1st floor.

The Helderse Fanfare Corps is founded 28th of August 1923 and has 2 departments, the amusement choir and de farmer's chapel 'de Bloaspoepers'

Our Café has been around since 1983 and is located in the center of Den Helder. It is a nice and cozy brown cafe where you can have a drink, play a game of pool or enjoy a game of darts. There are also regular live performances by various bands, see our agenda for more info. You can also follow various important football matches on a big screen. Er worden ook regelmatig live optredens gegeven door diverse bands, zie voor meer info onze agenda. Tevens kan men ook diverse belangrijke voetbalwedstrijden volgen op groot scherm. Station Den Helder Centraal brengt je in het hartje van Den Helder. Vanaf hier wandel je richting het gezellige stadshart van Den Helder met vele leuke winkels en restaurants. Ook voormalige Rijkswerf Willemsoord ligt een steenworp afstand van het station.

The title, Fort Oostoever, a half fort' is for the second time validity. Seperated by the Noordhollands canel alongside Fort Westoever the fortress on the Noordhollands canel. After the urge to expand of the council of Den Helder to get more space the fort was halved again. Fortress Oostoever is rarely visitable.
