Vermoedelijk werd er ook een huis voor de sluis- en brugwachter gebouwd. Archiefstukken tonen aan dat in 1892 opdracht werd gegeven voor de bouw van een stenen huis met café door sluis- en brugwachter J. Langedijk. Het café werd bezocht door scheepsbemanning en passanten. In 1968 werden de hefbrug en sluis door vermindering van scheepsvervoer verwijderd. Over de voormalige sluis werd een weg aangelegd.
