You can discover our beautiful municipality by bicycle via the bicycle route. The route takes you about 30 kilometers through beautiful nature and past old stately houses, churches, farms and locks. Wieringen is a former island between the Wadden Sea and Zuiderzee and is wonderfully beautiful. Recreation area Zuiderstrand Den Oever near the Zuiderhaven. Booth with bathing water, camper pitches, picnic tables and playground equipment, with views over the Afsluitdijk and the IJsselmeer.

Corn mill De Hoop was probably built around 1654. Since 2015, the mill has been milling again and runs weekly thanks to the efforts of volunteers.

At Smultaria in Den Oever you are at the right place for fries, frikandel or croquette for example. The snack bar is versatile and you can go here for the tasty appetite.

Walking route of Landscape North Holland. Wieringen is a "hidden" Wadden Island full of traces of the last ice age. Due to the closure of the Amsteldiep in 1924, the construction of the Afsluitdijk and the Wieringermeerpolder, Wieringen became part of the Noordkop. But it is still full of hidden stories, old villages, height differences, hollow roads, extensive meadows. Incidentally, the dog is allowed on a lead.
