Palingrokerij Kay - Den Oever is a mobile eel smokehouse with a 5-star status. The eel comes from our own catch, IJsselmeer or even from Ireland. For the gourmets there is also smoked salmon and mackerel. During the season, own eel is caught on the Wadden Sea, you can see the traps when you look out to sea at the Monument! Come and have a look, you are very welcome.

Spent the day at the Wadden Sea. Have fun with your friends or family, go fishing or look for seals. Sport Fishing Jorna offers a nice ship for 12 people maximum for sport fishing, evening fishing and seal tours.

A 2,5 hour tour that begins in harbor of Den Oever (Oostkade) and goes along the sluice at the beginning of the Dam, then along to the tidal banks where different species of birds are foraging and resting. After about half an hour we reach the seals. You can admire them in their natural setting.

You can discover our beautiful municipality by bicycle via the bicycle route. The route takes you about 30 kilometers through beautiful nature and past old stately houses, churches, farms and locks. Along the way you will pass, in addition to the many religious buildings, also numerous historic buildings that, together with the other monuments, make our municipality a picture. Those who know the Netherlands a little, know that it has a rich history with water. Characteristic icons such as mills, polders, pumping stations, mounds and dikes are good examples of this. The Afsluitdijk is perhaps the most impressive example of Dutch Delta Design. And with more than 600,000 visitors annually, also one of the most popular waterworks in the Netherlands.
