At the beginning of the last century, many flower bulb growers moved to the north of North Holland. Many growers from South Holland came to “De Noord”. This created a need for its own parish church. To cover the start-up costs, voluntary contributions were asked and a church bulb auction was held.

De Aap is the most active youth association in the municipality of Hollands Kroon. It started around 1940 in an old shack where young people went after church to do a beer. Nowadays the Monkey functions as a place of entertainment that focuses on starting party animals. De Aap offers a safe environment where young people can get acquainted with going out in a responsible way. This does not mean that you will only encounter 16-year-olds in the Aap, because you will not find the conviviality there easily at other places of entertainment.
