Fort Dirksz Admiraal was built in 1812-1813 as the middle fort in the Stelling van Den Helder. The fort is named after the former mayor of Monnickendam, Cornelis Dirkszoon, who was admiral of the North Holland fleet during the Eighty Years' War. In an advanced position, in what was then still a swamp area, both Fort Oostoever and Fort Erfprins could be protected from this fort. Within the Stelling Den Helder, it was decided that an armored coastal fort had to be built on the sandbank Harssens. It wouldn't be the only armored coastal fort, but it would be a unique one in shape and execution. To man the fort, a new regiment was established. Fort Harssens is unique because of the biggest canons that have ever been put on top of a fort. In two domes, there were two canons each with a diameter of 30,5 cm (12'', 1'). Directed at navigation channel Molengat, they could propel objects up to 7 kilometers away. De domes were moved by hydraulics en could turn 360 degrees.

The title, Fort Oostoever, a half fort' is for the second time validity. Seperated by the Noordhollands canel alongside Fort Westoever the fortress on the Noordhollands canel. The sanibunker is built in 1942, beginning of 1943. This bunker had a surgery room where the wounded could be stabilized, so that they could be transported further in-land. This bunker was part of the German ''Kriegsmarine'', and had 1 doctor and 4 nurses, who could care for 10 people with minor injuries, and 10 seriously injured people.

The FL250 was nicknamed 'Kroontjesbunker' because of the shape of the tower. In the bunker the flight movements of aircraft were coordinated. This bunker is located in a nature reserve.

The 'Stelling of Den Helder' is one of the oldest stll presence military defensive lines in the Netherlands. The 'stelling' is build in commisioned by Napoleon as a protection of navy base Willemsoord. The city of Den Helder got his shape because of the 'Stelling' which is still seeable in the landscape. The 'Stelling of Den Helder' is very important for the authenticity and identity of Den Helder.

There are only two bunkers of this type in the entire Atlantic Wall. These two imposing bunkers are located in the dunes at the beach entrance "de Zandloper" in Julianadorp. They never operated: the war ended before the bunkers were finished. The bunker on the north side is open to visitors. The bunkers consist of two floors. In the elongated exhibition space the visitor can get acquainted with the chronological course of the Second World War, the geography and form of the Atlantic Wall and stories and events from the war history.
