Batterij begraafplaats herbergt bijzondere verhalen. De bunker, door Nederlanders geplaatst, werd opgeleverd op 26 april 1940. Precies twee weken voordat de Duitse troepen Nederland binnenvielen. Als reactie hebben de soldaten de bunker en het afweergeschut onklaar gemaakt voor de invallers. Een geëxplodeerd deel van de loop van het kanon is nog bewaard gebleven en bevindt zich in een privécollectie, dat vervolgens door de eigenaar aan de Batterij Begraafplaats is geschonken. Toch heeft de Duitse bezetter ook gebruik gemaakt van de bunker: boven de ingang zijn zeer recent Duitse teksten op de muur gevonden.
