The Zuiderstrand of Den Oever is located on the Ijsselmeer side of the Afsluitdijk. The recreation area has a child-friendly swimming beach with playground equipment, picnic tables and camper pitches. From the beach there is a walking path on the Stontelerdijk. The beach is located near the supermarket ‘Dekamarkt’ (1 km), and is near the harbor of Den Oever, where you can find several restaurants, cafes and small shops.

The four storage sheds on Gesterweg were built in 1937 as a warehouse for Stelling Den Oever and were used as a mobilization complex during the Cold War.
