The department of Den Helder was founded in 1822 and is therefore the oldest existing association of the naval city. For a century and a half it had a pioneering role in education and development. The utility kindergartens, household education, the utility savings bank, these were all initiatives from this local department.

Showboat is a musical group from Den Helder, who are playing a musical each year. The organisation has 15 members.

Kinepolis Den Helder opened her doors in building 51 in Willemsoord, the former shipyard and maintenance site for the Royal Navy in 2003. Hawaiian Fantasy is a Polynesian dance group with dances from the islands of Hawaii, Tahiti, Marquises and New Sealand (Maori). You can provide stage performances, but can also be used as a 'welcoming act' where, if desired, flower wreaths are hung in the well-known Hawaiian way to welcome the guests. The Hawaiian Fantasy dance group, led by choreographer and dancer Junius Sadeleer, performs with a mini-disc or with a live band, consisting of 4 instrumentalists (percussion).
