You can discover our beautiful municipality by bicycle via the bicycle route. The route takes you about 30 kilometers through beautiful nature and past old stately houses, churches, farms and locks. Along the way you will pass, in addition to the many religious buildings, also numerous historic buildings that, together with the other monuments, make our municipality a picture. Welcome to the unique b&b The House of the Wadden. 2 houses joint together. One a former cheese shop and the other an old village inn where you still can find the old details and atmospere of the former island Wieringen. What makes it so unique? The bright and happy coulors. A well filled library with lots of information on the Wadden, art and a wonderful readingtable. A kitchen where you can cook yourself. Possibility to make an adventures tour on the Waddensea.

Spent the day at the Wadden Sea. Have fun with your friends or family, go fishing or look for seals. Sport Fishing Jorna offers a nice ship for 12 people maximum for sport fishing, evening fishing and seal tours.

There are two lock complexes in the Afsluitdijk: the Lorentz locks on the Frisian side at Kornwerderzand and the Stevinsluizen at Den Oever. The complexes consist of locks, which allow ships to navigate back and forth between the IJsselmeer and Waddenzee, and discharge locks, which discharge excess IJsselmeer water into the Waddenzee at low tide.

Wieringen is a former island between the Wadden Sea and Zuiderzee and is wonderfully beautiful. Rolling greenery, wooded banks that protect cattle and cyclists from the wind of the sea, historic farms, cozy villages, winding roads. And the sea is always close by, and so are the sea birds. Gulls, fish thieves, spoonbills and geese call Wieringen their home.

A 2 to 2½ hour trip that starts at the Oostkade. We sail through the harbors of Den Oever and past the sluices in the Afsluitdijk. Then we sail along the "Losse Dam" where the spoonbills and cormorants breed and along drier sandbanks where seals rest.

Walking route of Landscape North Holland. Wieringen is a "hidden" Wadden Island full of traces of the last ice age. Due to the closure of the Amsteldiep in 1924, the construction of the Afsluitdijk and the Wieringermeerpolder, Wieringen became part of the Noordkop. But it is still full of hidden stories, old villages, height differences, hollow roads, extensive meadows. Incidentally, the dog is allowed on a lead.
