These dunes are formed from the remains of the old Wadden island Huisduinen. South of this are the Donkere Duinen. These originated from the small Wadden island of Ooghduinen. The gap between the two islands closed in the 16th century. The Harmplas dune lake is now located here.

We specialize in Egyptian/Mediteranian specialties, along with a fusion kitchen. Wij have a flavour of our own, and make our products of fresh, artisan ingredients. If you choose Kunst & Kitchen, you enter a world where the traditional Eastern art of cooking comes together with modern, western art. Every 6 weeks we have a changing exposition of renowned artists.

We bring the summer itch, and give the ultimate holiday feeling. We have 36 different ice-cream flavours, including Smurf, Cookies, Stroopwafel, Bubblegum, Kinder Bueno and even Liquorice! All our flavours are fit for people with lactose or gluten allergies. We also offer an assortment of fresh pie to go along with a delicious cup of coffee.

Enjoy all kinds of classic ships, characteristic buildings and maritime craft activities. Visit a very special lightship, take a tour on a classic tugboat or take a day trip on a boat! Good for a wonderful day (or several!) out, especially in combination with the Navy Museum, the National Rescue Museum Dorus Rijkers and the cozy terraces and restaurants!

Since 1996, the museum lightship Texel No. 10 has been an absolute eye-catcher in Museum Harbor Willemsoord on the Oude Rijkswerf Willemsoord in Den Helder. What is special is that the now beautifully restored ship is moored a stone's throw from the slipway where she was launched in 1951. After this, the lightship would be a reliable beacon in the sea off the Dutch coast for forty years. It now forms a shining centerpiece of a special museum ships collection. We are a great choir, which is still young at heart. We are regularly asked to give concerts and we rehearse every Tuesday afternoon. Our repertoire does not only consist of operetta melodies, because we do not turn our hands around, to sing musical and evergreens. Nieuwe leden zijn van harte welkom!

Restaurant Stoom is a hip and trendy a-la-carte restaurant in Den Helder. A place for everyone to dine, work, meet and especially enjoy in a personal atmosphere. Stoom is situated in a unique spot in a beautiful monumental building at Willemsoord, which formerly served as a shipyard and maintenance yard for the Royal Dutch Navy. Glass, brick, wood and steel are the original elements that you encounter in the restaurant. Tough and robust.

Funtastic Casino is a contemporary, atmospheric and cozy entertainment center where money-winning gambling plays have a central role. Gaming offers entertainment, excitement and relaxation. The team is happy to answer any questions you may have, and you will enjoy alcohol-free drinks and tasty snacks during your stay. You will find Funtastic Casino in building 52CD along the terminal. Access is free and from 21 years old.

Restaurant Vice Versa is situated in the station building of Den Helder Airport, from which our guests can enjoy a nice cup of coffee, a lovely lunch, our sandwich of the month or one of our delicious fried egg on toast. All of that whilst overlooking the runway of the airport with all sorts of activity. What a lot of the people of Den Helder don't know, is that we are freely accessible. No passport or ID required! You can also come to us for all sorts of catering possibilities. You can also celebrate your birthday or some other occasion with us!
