This is the area between the Kanaalweg to Kolhorn the N248, the Provincial road to the Zand, the Westfriese dike and the Wadweg. It is approximately 100 hectares in size and almost entirely owned and managed by Staatsbosbeheer. This is the only nature reserve within the municipality of Schagen. There is a reed field of around 35 ha in the area, which is mowed every spring. The rest of the area is a small-scale polder landscape with a relatively high water level.
