The Helderse Historische Vereniging was founded on July 1, 1988 and is concerned with the preservation, disclosure and distribution of the history of Den Helder.

Our boat has a capacity for 10 people. If your group is bigger than 10 people, there is a possibility to go with several boats.

In our cafe (often called a living room) you can still taste the ambiance of days long gone. An old, brown cafe, with two billiards, and old seats and tables where you can play some cards. As a guest, you get swept up in the stories of old. In our family hotel you can unwind, whilst enjoying our comfortable beds, using the Wi-Fi. Or you could get out there and explore the city of Den Helder. The city center is only 500 meters away, and the Old Royal Navy shipyard Willemsoord is even closer by!

Our Dutch culture seems to be fading, but not in Den Helder. Since 1975, the Helderse Draaiorgelvrienden have been active to maintain a tradition. The 90-key street organ 'de Harmonica' is managed and operated by the volunteers of 'Stichting Helderse Draaiorgelvrienden'. Almost every Saturday they are with the organ in the city center of Den Helder. On an original wooden, three-wheeled push cart and always turned by hand, as happened a century ago.

The Forest Hotel is an excellent hotel opportunity in the centre of Den Helder. The city centre of Den Helder offers you, in addition to the pleasant shopping streets, the theatre and various museums, all within walking distance of the hotel. The beach, sea, dunes and the ferry to Texel are all within 2 kilometres. The Forest Hotel has 25 luxurious rooms, equipped with shower and/or bath, toilet, TV and telephone. Our atmospheric bar is the ideal place to enjoy a drink in the comfortable Chesterfield or at the cosy bar.

Up to 2 nights is maximum stay. Reservations are not possible but there are plenty of places. The rate is € 10, - per night, this includes: tourist tax, Wi-fi. the discharge of sewage and use of showers, toilets and baby care room. To use the laundry you can purchase a sep-key at the tourist information office or the harbour master.
