Fort Westoever was built around 1825 to defend the newly constructed North Holland Canal against attacks on the harbor of Den Helder. In 1954 the fort was taken over by the Royal Netherlands Navy. They built an emergency power diesel power station in the fort. Today, the venue is suitable for beer tastings or a delicious artisan burger with fries. This location is also perfectly suitable for different types of events, for example: weddings (think of a festival wedding on the ramparts), staff parties, team building days, etc. A combination can be made with different styles of catering in a unique ambiance, under the vaults of the Fort. or in good weather on the terrace at the Spoorweghaven. The Helderse Jongens brewery is located in the Fort. The first beer brewery in Den Helder. From the beer café you have a beautiful view of the enormous brewing kettles.
