The Balgzandpolder is entirely designed for birds. You always see birds here resting or looking for food. At high tide in the Wadden Sea there are extra birds to be seen here. They can often be admired from a short distance via a viewing screen. Birds that you can see, for example, are spoonbills, many species of ducks, large groups of oystercatchers and redshanks and amongst them rarer birds such as spotted redshanks and greenshanks. In addition to the Balgzand polder, a bird rock was constructed at the end of 2016. And this was a success, as it is teeming with birds! Nesting opportunities for shore swallows have been created in the walls of the bird rock. The bird rock is five meters high and cannot be climbed by foxes.

Fort Oostoever
The title, Fort Oostoever, a half fort' is for the second time validity. Seperated by the Noordhollands canel alongside Fort Westoever the fortress on the Noordhollands canel. After the urge to expand of the council of Den Helder to get more space the fort was halved again. Fortress Oostoever is rarely visitable.

A climbing park with challenging obstacles at different heights. The Eco-climbing park is landscaped with complete respect for nature among what shows the use of the materials uiy. It is for anyone who has a portion and a good physical health has dare. Challenging obstacles on 4 and 7 meters height, a special 75 meters and a 10 meter high plucked climbing wall make it attractive for young (minimum length 1.30 meters) and old! After attracting the integral belt and setting up the helmet you go to the exhibition trail. The trail consists of 3 loops.

Lightship Texel
Since 1996, the museum lightship Texel No. 10 has been an absolute eye-catcher in Museum Harbor Willemsoord on the Oude Rijkswerf Willemsoord in Den Helder. What is special is that the now beautifully restored ship is moored a stone's throw from the slipway where she was launched in 1951. After this, the lightship would be a reliable beacon in the sea off the Dutch coast for forty years. It now forms a shining centerpiece of a special museum ships collection. Lightship Texel is open to the public, check the website for current opening times.

B&B Duinbrink
In the middle of the Duinpark and in the heart of Nieuw Den Helder, close to the dunes, the forest and the beach, you will find this hidden gem. This B&B has its own entrance via the terrace, and a beautiful view of the water. The basement was converted into a guest apartment for 2 people in 2019, with a luxury bathroom and a kitchenette.
