Sandepark

Sandepark

In the mid-sixties, a bungalow park with 185 houses was established on former pasture land, Sandepolder, for those seeking peace and space.

The name Sandepark is derived from the polder on which the park was built. A village was created within a village. The park was built in three phases. First the wooden houses. Then the middle section and then the other stone houses. In the meantime, only a few houses remain in their original state. Many houses have been adapted to modern times. Extensions to the rear, to the side but also to the front. Some houses have even been completely demolished and replaced. However, the basic shape of the early days, the A-model, can be found in almost all houses. The original design of space and tranquility can still be found in the park. Each house is detached and the large central paths also give a spatial effect. Not all of the park’s land has been built on. There is room for afforestation, a football field, a pond, a playground and a large lawn.
