The first stone of the double stolp farm was laid on 2 April 1879 by J. Spaans. There was already a stolp called 'Kieftenburg' on the Hogebierenweg, but it burned down in 1878. It is uncertain where the name of the farm comes from. In West Friesland a lapwing is called a 'kieft', but it is derived from 'kiften' or to quarrel. The name 'Kieftenburg' has been around for centuries.

In 1861 is de stolpboerderij met enkel vierkant gebouwd. Het is een Noord-Hollandse normaalstolp: kenmerkend zijn de dorsdeuren aan de achterzijde van de stolp. Het voordakvlak is rietgedekt met een pannenspiegel. In de jaren 80 is vermoedelijk het gehele dak voorzien van riet. De schuur (ook eens stolp) is gebouwd in 1898 voor het onderbrengen van stieren, kalveren, een paard en een varken.

The farm from 1890 was built for a flower bulb grower and is therefore also called a 'bulb stelp'. The white-plastered bell jar next to it was built in the 1990s.

At beach entrance 16, between Petten and Sint Maartenszee, you will find Korfwater beach.

Paal 12, also called Jan Ayeslag, is located south of Paal 15. This beach is less crowded and popular with those seeking peace and quiet and people who love nature.

Paal 15, also known as Westerslag, is a wide sandy beach near Den Burg. This beach is ideal for families and active beachgoers.

Paal 17 is the most famous beach on Texel and the location for events such as the Ronde om Texel and SunBeats Festival.

Are you looking for a quieter beach with a natural look? Paal 9 is located south of Den Hoorn and borders the vast dunes and nature reserves.

This village, which isn't found by the navigation system, is a true holiday village. It has very few inhabitants, but consists of several holiday parks and campsites. A 10-minute walk through the beautiful dunes leads to the wonderfully wide beach. Sint Maartenszee is located in the largest contiguous flower bulb region in the world.
