The Helderse Vallei is the starting point of the 4 well-marked canoe routes from Den Helder with various footbridges along the way. The sanibunker is built in 1942, beginning of 1943. This bunker had a surgery room where the wounded could be stabilized, so that they could be transported further in-land. This bunker was part of the German ''Kriegsmarine'', and had 1 doctor and 4 nurses, who could care for 10 people with minor injuries, and 10 seriously injured people.
