This resulted in a sandbar which is called the subsidence. Salt water from the Wadden Sea seeps under the Amsteldiepdijk. As a result, the reed and grasslands of the settlement have become salty and that is rare. We therefore do everything we can to properly maintain these parts. Here you will find endangered plant species such as real spoon leaf and salt herb. Various orchids grow in the reed land.
