Het voormalige stoomgemaal in eclectische bouwstijl is gebouwd in 1873. Het gemaal is eenvoudig en functioneel van opzet en gebouwd door aannemer P. Wilms uit Anna Paulowna. Dankzij moderne technische ingrepen is het nu een elektrisch gemaal en nog steeds in gebruik. P. Wilms (1869 – 1943) werd geboren in Avenhorn en stamde uit een echte Westfriese boeren-brugemeestersfamilie. Na diverse ambtelijke functies werd hij in 1907 burgemeester van de gemeente Anna Paulowna. Daar leidde hij vakkundig en doortastend het reddingswerk en de wederopbouw van de Anna Paulownapolder nadat die tijdens de stormvloed van januari 1916 bijna helemaal onder water was verdwenen. Vanaf oktober 1916 was hij ook dijkgraaf van de Anna Paulownapolder. De stormvloed leidde in 1919 tot concentratie van het dijkbeheer in Noord-Holland boven het Noordzeekanaal. Dat kwam in handen van het nieuwe Hoogheemraadschap Noord-Hollands Noorderkwartier. Wijdenes Spaans werd de eerste dijkgraaf. Hij vervulde dit ambt tot 1939. Hij eindigde zijn afscheidsrede met de rake opdracht: ‘Bewaart uwe dijken wel!’. Beschrijving gebouw Het gemaal is samengesteld uit twee rechthoekige, gekoppelde bouwmassa’s onder een samenstel van met grijze pannen gedekte zadeldaken, bestaande uit één bouwlaag, met ter linkerzijde een lager, aangekapt gedeelte onder lessenaarsdak. De watertoevoer geschiedt aan de voorzijde op twee plaatsen. Aan de achterzijde verheft het gebouw zich aanmerkelijk ten opzichte van het water, waardoor de in het midden gelegen blokvormige uitbouw uit twee bouwlagen kan bestaan. Het gemaal is opgetrokken in baksteen en heeft witgepleisterde voor- en zijgevels. De oorspronkelijke vensters zijn gevat in gietijzeren sponningen en hebben gietijzeren traceringen. Waardering Het gemaal is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als grotendeels in oorspronkelijke staat verkerend 19de-eeuws gemaal in eclectische trant dat van wezenlijk belang is geweest voor de ontwikkeling van de polder Anna Paulowna. De Verzakking
The Subsidence was created by the construction of the Amsteldiepdijk. By using the wrong material for the dike, the unstable subsurface was pushed aside. This resulted in a sandbar which is called the subsidence. Salt water from the Wadden Sea seeps under the Amsteldiepdijk. As a result, the reed and grasslands of the settlement have become salty and that is rare. We therefore do everything we can to properly maintain these parts. Here you will find endangered plant species such as real spoon leaf and salt herb. Various orchids grow in the reed land.

Camping ‘t Loze Vissertje
Camping 't Loze Vissertje is located in the village of Van Ewijcksluis. There is room for 32 mobile homes and there are places for tents, campers and caravans. Van Ewijcksluis is a quiet village with about 90 houses / houseboats, a marina, a café restaurant, fishing and water park and a riding school. There are many things to do in the area. Please refer to the "Nearby" tab. Pets are allowed on our campsite (subject to availability). There are amenities such as wireless internet, a washing machine and a dryer. There are also 2 fully equipped caravans for rent at the campsite.
