Den Oever is also located on the Afsluitdijk and is therefore the only village that is located on fresh and salt water. The port is located near the Afsluitdijk on the Wadden Sea side. Den Oever is a real fishing port.
A section of the harbor has been set up as a tourist harbour. You can take a Wadden cruise here or go for a day of sport fishing.
In 2017, the harbor was restored to its nostalgic state, complete with a Wadden experience center for bird watchers and stargazers.
Every Saturday morning from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm there is a fresh sea fish market in the fish auction on the port grounds. Private individuals can buy fresh, high-quality fish here for an attractive price.
In the harbor you can take a seal trip, mudflat walking and shrimp fishing.
