In the municipality of Hollands Kroon there are two dike warehouses on the Noorderdijk on the edge of the IJsselmeer. They are unique objects in a landscape that has been shaped by active water management. The dikes along the IJsselmeer tell the story of the polder and the protection against the water. The dike warehouses played an important role in this. Sandbags and other tools were stored in case (emergency) work had to be carried out on the dike. Nowadays, the dike warehouses no longer have a function. In 2020, the Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier started looking for a suitable repurposing of the dike warehouses. The plan of ‘Culture Matters’ was chosen by the jury as the winning plan. Culture Matters will take care of a total of 3 dike warehouses on the IJsselmeer coast of North Holland and will restore two warehouses and transform them into sustainable, self-sufficient guesthouses and one (water) education house.

Voormalige Hervormde Kerk Wieringerwerf (Het Kompas)
In 1937 werd gestart met de bouw van de Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk aan de Meeuwstraat. In Slootdorp en Middenmeer waren al hervormde kerken gebouwd. Alle drie de kerken zijn ontworpen door architect G. van Hoogevest. De interbellumkerk is bescheiden en relatief sober ontworpen. In april 1945 is de kerk zwaar beschadigd. In 2002 werd het gebouw niet meer gebruikt als Hervormde Kerk. De Nederlandse Gereformeerde Kerk huurde de kerk en gaf het gebouw de naam ‘Het Kompas’. In 2022 zijn er appartementen gebouwd in de kerk.
