Den Helder, Visitorcentre Willemsoord

Currently there are 70 volunteers working to run the 'Farm'. You can come to the farm as meeting point, bingo, markets or other options.

At Drugstore Verberne, service and good advice are our number one priority. We have a broad assortment of products, and can order anything you can't find in our store. Whether it's a foto for your passport, glasses or having your ears pierced, we stand at the ready!

At the end of 2005, the nature in Den Helder was expanded with more than 50 hectares of natural bush land. Flower bulb fields were converted into low dunes, dune grasslands and water features. Come and visit and be amazed by the wealth of flowers, butterflies and birds. Don’t forget your boots!

The goal of this organisation is to further develop art. We want to keep the interest for art lively. On our site there is more information about the artist, their work and the diffrent techniques being used.

Fairtransport is the name of the on Willemsoord established alternative shipping company as a quality indicator for clean transport. The motorless sailing ship Tres Hombres already sails five years the sustainable trade route between Europe and the Caribbean. A second ship, the Nordlys IV will operate from March 2015 the European coast.

Our restaurant is located in the city centre of Den Helder. At Powngtong you can enjoy delicious Thai food. We also offer vegetarian dishes.

The Balgzandpolder is entirely designed for birds. You always see birds here resting or looking for food. At high tide in the Wadden Sea there are extra birds to be seen here. They can often be admired from a short distance via a viewing screen. Birds that you can see, for example, are spoonbills, many species of ducks, large groups of oystercatchers and redshanks and amongst them rarer birds such as spotted redshanks and greenshanks.

The Dutch lifeboat service through the ages and the safety aspects at sea are at the centre of attention in this museum. Original lifeboats, ship models, scale models, paintings, pictures, distinctions, life-saving equipment and movies are being displayed. All texts and computersimulations are in the English language and most movies as well. Daily, between 13.00 and 16.00 hrs, a 15 minute tour through the inner harbour can be made on board a historic lifeboat. Reservations for the boattrip not required.
