Mudflat hiking on Wieringen A guide can show you how unique this piece of nature is during the mudflats. And in the meantime you will experience a wonderfully active relaxing activity. Cruises The trip starts from Den Oever and sails over the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site. While sailing, fishing is done with a trawl net, then the catch is viewed and returned to the sea by hand. Fish is tasted, because fish is smoked on board! Walking or cycling Whether you choose walking or cycling, Wieringen shows all the charms of an island. De Wieringer bookshop: The aim was (and is) to give the islanders, but also passers-by, the feeling that they have missed something when they have not been inside. Every visit to the bookstore should be a party. We think we have succeeded in that aim. Everyone, young and old, can look around uninhibitedly, browse and enjoy what each book entails. The atmosphere is pleasant and homely. Feel free to sit down in one of the chairs and read the first chapter of the book that you will be taking home with you.

In the beautiful town of Hippolytushoef in North Holland you will find a food and snack corner: the Smulhoek. Hippolytushoef is surrounded by walking and cycling routes that take you through the history of the former island of Wieringen. De Smulhoek is an attractive restaurant with a beautiful sunny terrace. Easy to find, and a wide range of free parking spaces in front of the restaurant. Children with a special children's play corner have also been considered.
