The Helderse Vallei is the starting point of the 4 well-marked canoe routes that Den Helder has, with various jetties along the way. In addition, Den Helder has various waterways that are easily accessible for canoes. The village route (purple route, 15 km), the southernmost route, runs along the outer edges of Julianadorp.

The Helders Chamber Orchestra consists of members from Noord-Holland, but we have also had members from Friesland, who make music together in a serious but relaxed way. The orchestra not only focuses on the classical genre, it does not shy away from modern works either.

The Helders museum is located in the old music dome of the former lyceum on Timorlaan. Today this dome is also known as the Paviljoen van Toen, which borders the Timor Park in Den Helder. In addition to changing exhibitions, the museum also has various artefacts on display, each of which tells a specific story about the rich history of the city of Den Helder. Since 1996, the museum lightship Texel No. 10 has been an absolute eye-catcher in Museum Harbor Willemsoord on the Oude Rijkswerf Willemsoord in Den Helder. What is special is that the now beautifully restored ship is moored a stone's throw from the slipway where she was launched in 1951. After this, the lightship would be a reliable beacon in the sea off the Dutch coast for forty years. It now forms a shining centerpiece of a special museum ships collection.
