Fort Erfprins is an impressive 19th-century defensive structure located on a defense site on the west side of Den Helder.
Special military heritage
At 49 hectares, Fort Erfprins is the largest fort in the Netherlands. Built as part of the Defence Line of Den Helder, the fort was declared a national monument in 1973. Today, it remains in use as a naval barracks.

Guided tour
Due to its active military function, the fort is only accessible during organized tours on selected Saturdays. Advance registration is required via the website. Tours are intended for visitors aged 14 and older (accompanied visitors aged 17 and older). Please wear sturdy shoes and warm clothing; the site is large and partially underground.
