Castle Nieuwendoorn. Foundations of the in the 13th century founded castle Nieuwendoorn. Located between Eenigenburg and Krabbendam this was one of the castles of Count Floris the V. Around 1280 founded and after his dead in 1296 besieged by the West Frisians. People restored the castle. When you arrive at the first brigde across the channel, you come on the country place. There used to be the cowsheds/horsestables. Across the second bridge you come via the gatetower in the country place. On the left side is the defence tower. The Buitenplaats is a farm situated in the small and quiet village of Eenigenburg at the old West Frisian Omringdijk. At the farm, 25 cows are milked in the morning and at night, allowing everyone to come and see. There are some chickens scratching around the farm and there are 2 bungy bushes on the meadow with of course small calves. The land around the farm is mainly grassland, but potatoes are also grown.

Ruin ‘t Huys te Nuwendore

The castle 't Huys in Nuwendore was a fortress built by Floris V to keep the rebellious West Frisians in check. The castle was built in the 13th century, at the same time as the castles in Medemblik, Wijdenes and Oudorp. The castle was destroyed at the end of the 14th century, probably as a result of a dike breach. The foundations were preserved by the National Monument Care in 1960 and a path has been made to it. The ruin is located in a bend of the West Frisian Zeedijk between Eenigenburg and Krabbendam on the Burchtweg. A booklet about this is for sale at the tourist office.
