Beach entrance Duinoord is the best equipped beach entrance of Den Helder, with plenty of parking space, its very own Beachclub the Citadel, and a guarded beach post in the summer season. In the direct surroundings there are a few nature areas like ”de Donkere Duinen” and ”Mariëndal”. Duinoord has a nice, wide beach, and is often visited during the summer by both tourists and inhabitants of Den Helder. This beach has the Blue Flag and is being guarded.

Southeast of Den Helder lies the beautiful nature reserve World Heritage Waddenzee. The Balgzand is the the western part of the Waddenzee. This area is very important for migrating birds and for fish. To have as many people as possible know about this beautiful reserve, Nature information center Balgzand 't Kuitje hosts wad excursions organised by the Waddenvereniging.

Hotel Cape Horn is situated at the Zuidstraat in Den Helder, near the city center and the old Royal Navy shipyard Willemsoord. You can walk right into the city center where you find loads of cozy restaurants. Or cross the little bridge to visit one of the museums at Willemsoord. Our hotel has free Wi-Fi. We are a great choir, which is still young at heart. We are regularly asked to give concerts and we rehearse every Tuesday afternoon.
