On Saturday, October 3, NIOZ Open Day offers visitors the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at research into the sea and underwater life. NIOZ staff will talk about their work, research, and passion for the sea, and organize various activities for visitors of all ages.
During the Open Day, visitors can, among other things, get acquainted with the Virtual Ship, view marine life through a microscope, and get hands-on with topics such as DNA, microbes, plankton, and deep-sea research. In addition, there are various lectures, demonstrations of research equipment, and an exhibition celebrating NIOZ’s 150th anniversary.
The Open Day is part of the Weekend of Science and shows how water, science, and the world around us are connected.
The event takes place on Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 to 16:00, at NIOZ, Landsdiep 4, ‘t Horntje on Texel.
