Lichtschip Texel | Open Monumentendagen

A familiar beacon in the heart of Den Helder

Since 1996, the impressive lightship Texel No. 10 has been moored in Museum Harbour Willemsoord. The ship immediately attracts attention, not only because of its appearance but also because of its location: a stone’s throw from the slipway where it was launched in 1951.

Visit the ship and step back in time

The Texel lightship is open to visitors today. You literally step aboard a sailing monument. Ideal for a day out that is safe, educational, and surprisingly close by.

Performances

On Saturday, enjoy performances by Koor Onrust and vocal group Melody aboard the lightship Texel. Additionally, Ronald Kroon brings old photos of Den Helder to life using AI.

On Sunday, the musical program continues with singer Norafien Dee and the duo Burt Hollywood & Mr. Jake, who together provide atmospheric acoustic music.

Activities

Various volunteers are ready to provide an explanation of the history of the lightship and the work on board. Various local artists and/or choirs will also make a musical contribution.
