From May 29 to June 14, 2026, the coast of the municipality of Schagen transforms into one large open-air stage for art, culture, and encounters. During the Ku(n)stroute Zijpe aan Zee, you will discover art in a special location: with your feet in the sand, the sea in the background, and the setting sun as a backdrop.
Exhibitions
Along the beaches of Groote Keeten, Callantsoog, Sint Maartenszee, and Petten, visual artists from all over the Netherlands are showcasing their work around ten beach pavilions. The exhibitions are free to visit throughout the entire festival period. You will find the artworks on the beach and, at some pavilions, also on the terrace or inside.
Theater, dance and music
On weekends, the festival buzzes even more with free performances and shows. Enjoy theater, dance, music, choirs, artists, and bands in a relaxed festival atmosphere by the sea. There are also creative workshops, such as painting, photography, and stamp art. For children and young people, there is a special program with performances, workshops, and activities.
Opening
The festive opening takes place on Friday evening, May 29, on the beach of Callantsoog, between beach pavilions De Strandtent and Woest. At sunset, surprising performances will ensure a special start to the festival. Everyone is welcome.
