De Poppendokter

The Doll Doctor is a moving storytelling performance by Kurt Defrancq, based on the poignant book by Diana Broeckhoven. The story is about friendship, loss, and the power of memories.

As a child, Hendrik Roest regularly played with his Jewish neighbor, Esther Levine. When Esther suddenly disappeared in 1942, Hendrik was left behind with a doll named Trui, whom they considered their ‘child’. Twenty years later, Hendrik and Esther’s lives unexpectedly cross paths again. The encounter brings back memories of their childhood and events from the past.

Kurt Defrancq brings the story to life in a poignant manner and takes the audience into a personal history in which friendship, loss, and memory take center stage.

The performance takes place on November 28, 2026, in the theater hall of the Cultuurschuur Wieringerwerf and begins at 8:00 PM. Admission is €17.50 per person.
