Where better to experience spring than in the municipality of Schagen, with its colorful flower bulb fields and stunning coastline? The Bloeiend Zijpe Foundation organizes vibrant activities in April and May, with the aim of allowing everyone to enjoy the fragrant and colorful flower bulb fields in the Kop van Noord-Holland region – up close and personal.
Blooming Zijpe – Tulip Trail Run – April 18
The Tulip Trail Run will be held on April 18th. This unique and enjoyable 7.5- or 15-kilometer run will take you through the colorful and fragrant flower bulb fields. Participants will primarily run along the wide sandy paths bordering the flowering bulb fields.
Blooming Zijpe – Walking Day – April 19
On April 19th, the world-famous walking day takes place, with participants largely walking along the cobblestones through the colorful fields. Only on this walking day do approximately fifty landowners grant permission. You’ll visit places where you’re normally not allowed to walk!
Blooming Zijpe – Cycling Day – April 26
On April 26th, a fun, 40-kilometer cycling day will take place through the blooming bulb fields. This colorful cycling tour is unique and takes place in the largest contiguous bulb-growing area in the world. Your bike will also pass beautiful sights in the former municipality of Zijpe. Most of the route follows paved roads around the bulb fields, with the occasional detour through a bulb field.
Flower Bulb Boemel – April 7 to May 3
From April 7th to May 3rd, you can take a ride on the indoor BloembollenBoemel (Flower Bulb Ride) through the blooming flower fields. During the 45-minute ride, a Dutch-speaking guide will tell you about the colorful surroundings, and you can ask them your questions about flower bulb cultivation.
