I Swear is a 2025 British drama film directed by Kirk Jones, starring Robert Aramayo and Maxine Peake. The film tells the true story of John Davidson, who was diagnosed with Tourette’s at the age of fifteen. His distinctive symptoms were not understood by his peers and those around him for a long time, leading to him facing misunderstanding and prejudice.
As an adult, John Davidson decided to actively dedicate himself to raising awareness and understanding of Tourette’s. His commitment and personal experiences formed the basis for his work as an advocate. In 2019, he was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for this. The film shows how Davidson, despite the challenges his condition presents, manages to make a meaningful contribution to raising awareness about Tourette’s.
The screening room at the film house in the Cultuurschuur Wieringermeer opens at 7:30 PM and the film starts at 8:00 PM. Admission is €6 per person.
