Lezing KNNV – Vogelzang in de muziek

Birdsong in music

Birdsong is common in classical and pop music, but it is not always easy to recognize which bird is being depicted. Composers use bird sounds to add atmosphere, location, or symbolism to their music. The cuckoo, in particular, is frequently heard, but many other European birds have also found a place in compositions.

Ton Oudshoorn

Ton Oudshoorn is an expert in the field of birdsong in music. During his presentation, he compares real bird sounds with music excerpts and explains how birds reappear in music and folk tales.
