Are you looking for a delicious daily bread or cake to make your mouth water? Then you've come to the right place at Slijkerman's bread and pastry shop! Since 1934 our family company has offered traditionally prepared bread in many shapes and sizes. For the sweet tooth, we also have an extensive range of pastries with home-made cakes and treats. Need something to bring to work/school for a celebration? Customized cookies are our specialty and are the absolute favourite of many of our customers. Nowhere in North Holland is bird life as rich as on Balgzand. The land here is wide and beautiful. From a number of points on the sea dyke you have a beautiful view of the mudflats. A good point to look at is ’t Kuitje Information Centre on the Oostoeverweg in Den Helder. Note the tides, for with rising water the thousands of birds fly in large swirling clouds towards the dike to spend time there.

The Balgzandpolder is entirely designed for birds. You always see birds here resting or looking for food. At high tide in the Wadden Sea there are extra birds to be seen here. They can often be admired from a short distance via a viewing screen. Birds that you can see, for example, are spoonbills, many species of ducks, large groups of oystercatchers and redshanks and amongst them rarer birds such as spotted redshanks and greenshanks.

Ballet and Dance Studio Chantal is a bustling dance school. For toddlers, preschoolers, children, young people and adults with a passion for dance! The goal of Ballet and Dance Studio Chantal is to be busy with dance in a relaxed and professional way.

Bar Bonaire is the place where the nights are going further and at day there is space for lunch. We stay to have the same concept but that better and longer. We open at 11:00. You can come in and enjoy a coffee or something from out new menu like fingerfood. In the evening we are as we were before. We are also going to organize more events.

In the center of Den Helder you will find Bar style. Come and visit us for a drink. We also have a terrace where in the summer season, in collaboration with colleagues on Breewaterplein, regular performances take place which creates a very cozy atmosphere.

Batterij begraafplaats herbergt bijzondere verhalen. De bunker, door Nederlanders geplaatst, werd opgeleverd op 26 april 1940.

Beach entrance Zandloper is the northernmost beach of Julianadorp aan Zee. The beach is formerly known as Ship on the Beach, after the paviljon that was located there at the time. Nowadays, a brand-new paviljon has been built after a fire destroyed the old one. This beach has a guarded beach post, and has a Blue Flag.

Behind the beautiful nature area and recreational forest de Donkere Duinen, you find beach Donkere Duinen, also known by the people as entrance ''Hengstepad''. The beach Donkere Duinen is only accessible on foot or on bike. The advantage you have is that you can enjoy a beautiful and mostly quiet family beach. And ofcourse when you go to this beach, you have a great walk or bicycle tour ahead of you.

Beach Drooghe Weert is for the real lovers of nature, who come to seek some peace and quiet. The beach entrance lies next to a nature area and a bird reserve, where wheatears breed every spring. You can walk or cycle through the dunes. The villages of Groote Keeten and Callantsoog are easy to reach on bike.

Beach entrance Falga is a quite entrance with a wide and white beach. The souther part of the beach, between pole 4.09 and pole 5, is the nudist beach. You can walk and cycle in the surrounding dune area. In the spring (May) you have a spectacular overview of the blooming bulb fields.

Beach entrance Huisduinen lies almost under de most beautiful and oldest lighthouse of the Netherlands, called ''de Lange Jaap'' and is named after the old village Huisduinen, which lies directly next to it. This beach is a nice and quiet family beach, with its own paviljon ''Factor 30''. You can find the toilets and beach shower here. In de surrounding area there is a beautiful old fort - ''Fort Kijkduin'', which you can visit. It has a magnificent sea fish tank, and a overview of the history of this fort. You can walk and cycle in a big dune area ''de Grafelijkheidsduinen''.
