Experience an educational and adventurous spring break at Ecomare on Texel! This year, seahorses and the new exhibition “See you later, Texel in 2075” are central.
New exhibition: See you later, Texel in 2075
From 14 February, Ecomare will open the brand new temporary exhibition “See you later, Texel in 2075”. Here you decide for yourself what Texel will look like in 50 years. What choices will you make for nature, tourism and sustainability? You will also discover which animals, such as the seahorse, are increasingly appearing in our environment due to climate change.
Seahorses in the spotlight
Due to the warming of the sea, seahorses are becoming more common in the North Sea. In the winter, they sometimes wash up hypothermic and are taken in at Ecomare. During the spring break, you can see these special fish up close in the Sea Aquarium and participate in various activities:
- Craft a seahorse
- Seahorse Facts – Discover All About These Unique Animals
- Reading time for toddlers and preschoolers
- Lecture about seahorses by zookeeper Jarco (for everyone aged 10 and over)
Daily activities
In addition to the special holiday activities, there is plenty to do every day at Ecomare:
- Feeding the seals (11:00 & 15:30)
- Feeding presentation in the Sea Aquarium (2:30 PM)
- Discover the beach finds cart and the sea laboratory
