School 7: the living room of Den Helder
In the heart of Den Helder, you will find the central library of KopGroep Libraries: School 7. This branch was named Best Library in the Netherlands in 2017 – chosen by both the public and a professional jury. It is not without reason that School 7 feels like the living room of the city.
Space for meeting, rest, and reflection
Whether you want to study, take a course, read a book, or enjoy a cup of coffee in the Reading Café – it is all possible. School 7 offers both lively spaces and quiet corners where you can retreat for a moment. The small theater hall is regularly filled with lectures and meetings.
Locally connected: from history to future
On the ground floor, you will find the Helder Historical Society. It is easily accessible for anyone who wants to learn more about local history. The courses of the Helder Adult Education Centre are also held in the library. You can even get married here – School 7 is an official wedding venue.
Visit during Open Monument Day
During Open Monument Day, staff from the library and the historical society will be on hand to show you around and answer your questions. In Room 7, a film screening about the library and its remarkable history will be shown continuously.
