Gemaal Lely is gebouwd in 1928-1929 naar ontwerp van ir. D. Roosenburg door Hillen & Roosen en Trio betonbouw. De elektromotoren en pompen werden geleverd door Werkspoor Amsterdam in samenwerking met N.V. Elektrotechnische Industrie, voorheen W. Smit te Slikkerveer. Het gemaal sluit in architectuur aan bij de Nieuwe Zakelijkheid door de blokvormige witte betonnen bouwvolumes. Daarnaast zijn er andere, meer monumentale invloeden verwerkt zoals blijkt uit de symmetrie en ritmering van de gevels, uit de detaillering van de vensters en de ornamenten tussen penanten en muurvlakken. Het exterieur is grotendeels gaaf. In 1981 verdwenen de hoogspanningsleidingen aan de zuidzijde. Het interieur onderging wijzigingen. Zo werd in 1988 de bemalingsinstallatie veranderd. Hierbij werden de elektromotoren vervangen door moderne ASEA-motoren en werden de schakel- en transformatorruimtes ontruimd. In verband hiermee veranderde ook de aan de machines aangepaste siertegelvloer in de machinehal. Het gemaal is vernoemd naar ingenieur Cornelis Lely, de initiatiefnemer van de Zuiderzeewerken. Minicampsite on an arable farm lokated in de Wieringermeerpolder, close to two forests Robbenoordbos and Dijkgatbos. The Catharina Hoeve lies at 2km. distance from the IJsselmeer en 3km. from the old fishing village Den Oever on the former island Wieringen. You will find the main village of the Wieringermeerpolder, Wieringerwerf, also close at hand. The campsiteplaces are divided by green, trees, hegges and bushes. The sanitary is clean and simple, the way it is expected on a small farm. Lovely place to be for lovers of natuur and water who would like to discover the area on foot or by bike.

Pumping station Leemans Stontelersluis
From 1930, the Leemans pumping station has ensured that the residents of the Wieringermeer keep their feet dry by pumping water from the polder. Until 1997 this was in the IJsselmeer. Because the water in the Wieringermeer is bad for nature and drinking water extraction due to so-called "saline seepage" (seawater that flows into the polder underground), it has been pumped directly into the Wadden Sea since 1997.
