From 3 to 6 September 2025, Theatergroep LAVA will present the impressive location theater performance Waterwolf in Johanna’s Bos in Anna Paulowna. This “rock opera on boots” marks the 450th anniversary of hydraulic engineer Jan Adriaenszn Leeghwater and interweaves his battle against the water with current climate issues. The performance is energetic, musically and visually powerful, and uses the natural environment as a raw and compelling backdrop.
Visitors are challenged to think about the future of the Dutch water landscape, while enjoying live music, impressive play and the special atmosphere of an outdoor location. With the possibility to eat beforehand and even spend the night in Johanna’s Bos, Waterwolf is a unique cultural experience that literally and figuratively touches you.
